Sooo, what is it that is most important to you? Is it your happiness? Is it spirituality? Is it love? Is it money? The most important areas of life for most people are the following: family, spiritual, mental health, physical health, social relationships, contribution, recreation, career and financial. Start your list by simply jotting down what is most important to YOU. Later on we will focus on putting them in order.
I'll start off as an example by sharing a list of areas of life that are most important to me, which are: Spirituality, health, family, contribution, recreation & financial. Now to explain why these areas are important to me:
*Spirituality because it is important to me that I have a relationship with Jesus Christ. All of the "unfortunate" things that happened to me in my life were actually valuable lessons/BLESSINGS which were God's way of protecting me from something much worst.
*Health because part of being spiritually healthy includes taking care of my physical and mental wellbeing.
*Family (of course my friends are my family as well) because their love and positive support shaped me into the person that I am today. My cats always put a smile on my face! And to my future husband… God will equally match us, therefore I know what an honorable man you are... and I will patiently wait for you! (smile)
*Contribution because the world needs volunteers. My goal is to give, not to expect to receive.
*Recreation because I am an artist and to me, part of maintaining mental health is for me to engage in positive recreation. Drawing, working out/boxing/jogging, motivational speaking, and watching comedy are some of the things that I enjoy doing for recreation, just to name a few.
*Financial is not my main concern. What is more important about financial is that I support myself by doing things that I ENJOY doing to make money, rather than doing things I don't enjoy to make money. For me, part of being happy in life means for me to surround myself with the things that make me happy. If I am going to spend any amount of hours at a job that makes me miserable, then I would only be working against my happiness. In the past, I didn’t think I had an option, but now that I know that I do have OPTIONS (and understand that I actually always did have an option), I enjoy my work life much better! I realized that I had options when I took a closer look at the things that make me happy. This is why creating this list is so important... Even if it seems elementary...
So what does your list look like? Work on jotting down the things in life that are most important to you and why. In the next blog we'll cover how to review/examine the list and move on to prioritizing it. Please let me know if you have any questions (see my contact page). Thank you very much for reading my blog post! Ciao for now folks!
(what the heck was that?... "Ciao for now folks!"??? That's like Spanish and folk culture mixed into one sentence... LOL)... How do we create habits that allow us to live a fulfilling life? What are the things that are most important to us but that we we have difficulty consistently carrying out? If you want to create habits that will allow you to live a fulfilling life, you will need to first IDENTIFY the things that are most important to you. When you take time out to identify what is most important to you, you set your destination by deciding your path!
